Simplicity

This outfit is quite simple, just jeans and long sleeves shirt, but I feel with the right accessories it definitely gave it some life. One of my favorite color combinations is black and gold so I couldn’t resist adding gold jewelry and a belt with a gold buckle. I picked out a clutch that would add some color but wasn’t too harsh on the eye. My suede boots finish off the look perfectly by adding some height and dressing it up enough for a casual dinner with my cousin.

Here are a few more great black and gold combinations…

Hello 2013

DSC_1549copy2

2012 was a very significant year for me. I experienced a lot of new things, professionally and personally. It was definitely year of changes and new beginnings and I plan to embrace them in 2013.  I refer to this blog as my lifestyle journey because at my age everything is a journey. There is still so much I have to learn about my self and the world around me. I not only want to share with you my daily outfits, recipes and crafts but also the things that are shaping the person I am. I have no idea what those things are yet, but I am excited for what the future holds and I am thankful that I have friends and family who are there to support me every step of the way. I apologize for being absent the past few weeks, but like I said there were a lot of changes going in my life that needed my full attention. Thank you for your patience and I wish all of you a blessed new year!

Here are a few New Years Resolutions/Goals:

1. Start yoga again

2. Exercise!!!

3. Find time to do things that I love (sew, bake, read)

4. Follow through with my vision for this blog

5. Find an internship this summer in relation to fashion

6. Learn to be a better manager

7. Cut down my daily sugar intake

8. Learn Spanish and the rosary in Spanish

9. Get straight A’s

10.  Oh and meet Channing Tatum and not faint when I do

Holiday Wish List

1. Kate Spade Watch- I have been wanting a gold watch for a while and this one from Kate Spade is absolutely perfect!

2. Vince Camuto Boots- I have been looking for short black boots that don’t have too many buckles or laces. This pair is the perfect height and style, and it has a gold accents.

3. Target Pajamas- I have a small obsession with pajamas and this one from Target reminds me of the gold polka-dots from the Kate Spade collection. This is a must!

4. Bath and Body Works Candles: Every holiday season I stalk up on candles from Bath and Body Works because they have a lot of good deals and coupons. Their candles are strong and smell amazing!

5. ASOS Sweater: Sweater, Elbow Patch, Hearts. Enough said.

6. AE Outfitters Denim Jacket: My mom and I have been searching for a denim jacket to add to our wardrobe and this one is the perfect length and shade.

My Favorite Sweater

Sweater: INC (similar), Blouse: Charlotte Russe, Hat and Tights: Target, Boots: Gianni Bini, Purse: Juicy Couture, Necklace: Michael Kors,Watch: Nordstrom (old), Bracelets: Juicy Couture (similar) and Things Remembered

I last wrote about this sweater in April when I wore it with jeans and an oxford shirt. This outfit is completely different but just shows how versatile the sweater is. Even though this outfit is all black, the stripes and tan color from the sweater create some depth and keep it visually appealing. I felt the outfit had room for some heavy accessorizing  so I borrowed this gorgeous Michael Kors necklace from my Aunt Elsa (Thank you!) and also wore my cloche hat from Target. I am excited for the colder weather because now I get to bring out all my hats and scarfs. I have to try really hard not to wear one every single day. But they are just so cute!

Black, Gold, and Cream

Dress: Elle via Kohls (other dresses at Kohl’s), Shoes: Cosmopolitan via JCPenny, Necklace: Local Jewelry Boutique, Clutch: Kate Spade

Well, I’m back! Turns out blogging during the semester was a lot harder than I thought. This semester has been really tough with test and projects due every week. I have missed blogging and I can’t wait to get back on track.

This outfit was from a while back when I went to a cocktail party in celebration of some friends who are getting married. I jumped at the opportunity to get all dressed up. The style of this dress reminds me of something Lauren Conrad would wear. She has the quintessential sophisticated and feminine style that I absolutely adore. And can we just take a moment to totally drool over these shoes! When I spotted these at JCPenny I almost passed out (too dramatic?). Seriously though, I have found any excuse to wear them, along with this gorgeous collar necklace. I love how the black and gold play against the cream color of the dress. It’s an unexpected combination that worked out really well.

Give Summer Staples Autumnal Life (My Article)

I finally took the initiative to approach the school newspaper with an idea I had for a fashion article about transitioning summer staples for fall. They instantly made my dream into a reality and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the result. I enlisted the help from Jeyn’s Boutique, a trendy new store near my school, to provide some cute pieces for the photos. Check out the full article here.

Polka-Dot

Shirt: H&M, Jeans: PacSun, Shoes: City Classified, Purse: Kate Spade, Belt: Target

I finally bought a polka dot blouse. This makes me one step closer to being like Sadie (described in this post). I have already worn this top way too many times and I am pretty sure people are starting to think I don’t own anything else. It is just SO comfortable! I am sure I am not the only one to be infatuated with new clothes for a few weeks. Polka dot pieces are similar to stripes because they are both classic pieces that will never go out of style. After reading my JCrew catalog and a quick trip to Forever 21, it does appear that they are on trend this season. So now is the perfect time to pick up a polka dot blouse and it will be good for years to come!  I will show you in future posts different ways to style it.

DIY: Sparkle Branches

As I was taking my dog for a walk the other day, I gathered some branches and decided to do a fun and simple craft. Sparkle branches are pretty common during the holidays and can be purchased in stores, but here is a way to do it yourself with as many branches as you like in any color.

1. Materials I used

2. Try to pick branches that are similar in width and length but don’t worry about the color since it will be covered.

3. As soon as I spray painted the entire branch I added glitter so it would adhere while it was still wet.

4. Wait about half an hour till they are completely dry and put them in a long vase for display. This table in my house has a glitter and whimsical decor for Halloween, so I thought the glittery branches would be a nice addition.

I hope to gather more branches when I go on walks in order to create a look like this. This is an easy craft that requires little materials and you can customize the color and sparkle to suit your style.
